The Carry-On That Holds Its Shape Through the Whole Trip
Review
Most entry-level cabin luggage looks fine in the shop and then announces itself across every airport terminal you ever drag it through. Loose wheels, a handle that wobbles, a shell that picks up scuffs by week two. The MOKOBARA Transit Cabin is built on the opposite assumption, that a 40-litre carry-on is going to live a hard life, and should be engineered for that life rather than against it.
The shell is German Makrolon polycarbonate, which is the same material a lot of pricier brands use and which absorbs the inevitable conveyor-belt knock without cracking or scarring. Eight Hinomoto spinner wheels turn 360° in any direction and roll close to silent across polished marble or boarding-ramp metal. The handle is aviation-grade aluminium with two height stops, which sounds like marketing language and stops sounding that way the first time you pull a heavy bag through a long terminal. TSA-approved combination lock, premium zippers, water-resistant exterior. Forty litres is the IATA-friendly cabin spec for almost every regional carrier, Emirates, Etihad, Flydubai, Air Arabia, which is the test that matters from Dubai.

The Crypto 2.0 black finish is the version to buy if you want it to disappear in a meeting and reappear at the carousel without the scratch map most travel cases pick up by the second year. MOKOBARA also offers personalised engraving on the handle plate, which is not strictly necessary and is the kind of thing you do once and then never regret. The honest note: The cabin model alone will not cover a longer trip. If you travel for ten days at a time, look at the set-of-two with the check-in version rather than buying the cabin twice. And while the polycarbonate is genuinely strong, the gloss finish does show fingerprints; the matte colours hide that better. Who this is for: Anyone who flies short-haul out of DXB more than four times a year and is tired of paying for check-in luggage they did not actually need.
